Royal Academy of Dance

THE ROYAL ACADEMY OF DANCE  :  IDA is the ONLY academy in South Florida offering this exclusive academic program in dance.

The Royal Academy of Dance, under the patronage of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, is one of the largest and most influential training organizations in the world. Promoted in 79 countries worldwide, RAD is respected for its universal high standards and degree of difficulty. Dancers, starting from age 6 to post graduation, are tested by highly qualified examiners who travel from overseas or out-of-state. Those who pass the examination are awarded an internationally recognized diploma, placing the dancer a cut above the rest with college applications and future interviews for advancement. The additional RAD option is offered to dedicated dancers at IDA.

Beginning with Primary the dancers need to obtain a ‘pass’ mark through Grade 1 – Grade 8 examinations, followed by Vocational examinations through to Advanced I and their final examination, Advanced II.  These examinations are exact and rigorous and not recommended for every pupil.

IDA is proud to report that, year after year, we experience truly exceptional high marks from all candidates. This includes an unheard of 100% perfect score by Seoyeon Kim, and distinctions by Abbey Kay, Haylee Levin, Ashley Serio, Leah Salciccioli and Laura Makemson for their Advanced II examinations, thereby qualifying them for the Adeline Genée International Ballet Competition, the world’s most prestigious ballet competition danced annually in a venue around the world.

2016 RAD exam results :  81 entries; 100% pass rate 22 Merits, 59 Distinctions!
