History

The International Dance Academy, was founded in September 2000 through the partnership of the highly acclaimed writer and choreographer, Mary Buttner and the noted Principal/Soloist on stages in America, London and South Africa, Deborah Buttner. IDA’s first location over a decade ago was in a small studio warehouse in Davie, Florida. International Ballet Company was born the same year in response to great demand for the production of a full length Nutcracker performance. Following rave reviews and a dramatic enrollment increase, IDA expanded to a larger location in Weston, Florida, in 2007.

With over 5,500 square feet of state of the art space, we are blessed to be able to meet the needs of our ever-growing family of dancers.
Surrounded by sunny windows, the interior boasts a superior learning complex like none other. The large foyer area welcomes parents to observe while the children learn the art of classical ballet in THREE fully equipped sprung-floored, air-conditioned studios. The studio also boasts a kitchen, sewing/crafts room, prop and costume room. Parking, immediately outside the front door, is plentiful and placed for easy drop-off/pick-up.
